Smartphone makers sometimes launch special editions of premium devices to appeal to fans of a certain franchise and provide a limited edition variant of a certain model, one that will eventually become a collectible.
The same goes with Meitu’s Limited Edition Sailor Moon Mito M8, which was created in partnership with Chinese superstar Angelababy. Meitu puts extra emphasis on the users' desire to take selfies, as the company has a selfie app and equips some of its phones with Sony front cameras.
That being said, the Limited Edition Sailor Moon M8 comes with some impressive specs, like a 12MP Sony IMX362 front camera with dual phase detect AF and a 21MP Sony IMX230 sensor on the back. In addition, the wand doubles as a selfie stick and allows users to snap pictures just about anywhere.
There’s also a special Hello Kitty edition
The special edition Sailor Moon M8 also features 4GB of RAM and a 5.2-inch AMOLED display with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution. It runs a MediaTek MT6797M Helio X20 processor with Mali-T880 GPU, and draws power from a 3,000mAh battery. The phone comes with 64GB of internal storage and runs Android Marshmallow with MeiOS 3.5 on top.
Its design is based on the Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon franchise, but the phone isn’t offered solely in the pink color variant. Customers can pick from other color options as well, like blue, red and white. A special Hello Kitty Edition of the phone is also offered, alongside the Sailor Moon M8. The Hello Kitty variant comes with an added bonus, support for 32-bit audio playback through ESS Technology DAC.
